The Challenge
The primary challenge was finding effective ways to address the tough issues facing the CF community and ensuring that critical information reached patients and families consistently. To do this, the client needed to better understand the digital advocacy landscape to identify the most impactful community conduits and amplify their voices online.
Our Approach
Partnering with the client’s Patient Advocacy team, we implemented a strategic digital initiative to empower Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Patient and Caregiver Opinion Leaders across the country. Key pillars of the approach included:
Collaborative Advocacy
We worked closely with national CF advocacy organizations and Patient and Caregiver Opinion Leaders to address the tough issues facing the CF community and encourage them to raise their voices together.
Analytical Spider Mapping
We conducted in-depth social media "spider mapping" to examine and visualize the online connectivity between the top four CF patient opinion leaders and other prominent members of the CF community.
Digital Footprint Expansion
Recognizing the importance of digital communications for CF families, we focused on supporting these opinion leaders in expanding their digital footprints to more effectively engage the CF community.
The Outcome
The strategic mapping successfully demonstrated the immense reach and impact of CF advocates, establishing that supporting their digital growth is critically important for ongoing community engagement. Key milestones included:
Core Influencer Connectivity
The initiative successfully highlighted the online connectivity and centralized impact of the top four CF patient opinion leaders within the network.
Broad Network Visualization
The spider mapping successfully identified dozens of prominent members of the CF community, visually showcasing the vast, interconnected nature of patients, caregivers, and individual advocates online.
Consistent Community Engagement
Through this supported network, opinion leaders now successfully act as active conduits, providing important information to the CF community on a daily basis through their social media channels.
